Ruhango District
Ruhango District nestled in Rwanda’s Southern Province about 70 km south of Kigali, is embracing heritage tourism and hospitality to diversify its largely agricultural economy (626.8 km²; pop. ~359,121) . The district office, collaborating with RALGA, is cataloguing and restoring cultural and religious sites such as Urutare rwa Kamegeri, Umugina w’Imvuzo and Kwa Yezu Nyirimpuwhe to attract visitors. It actively promotes public‑private partnerships and supports local artisans and hospitality services to drive sustainable tourism growth.
